Steam Summarize ("we", "us", "our") provides AI-powered summaries of Steam game reviews through our website at steamsummarize.com, our Chrome browser extension, and our iOS/macOS app. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Information We Collect

Website: We use Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as page views, referral sources, and general device information. No personally identifiable information is collected.

Chrome Extension: The extension reads the Steam App ID from the URL of Steam store pages you visit. This App ID is sent to our API at steamsummarize.com to retrieve or generate a review summary. We do not collect, store, or transmit any other browsing data, personal information, or Steam account details.

iOS/macOS App: The app sends Steam App IDs to our API at steamsummarize.com to generate review summaries, and fetches game data directly from the Steam Web API. Your saved games list and cached summaries are stored locally on your device and synced across your devices via Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store (CloudKit). This data stays within your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us. The app does not collect analytics, personal information, or Steam account details.

How We Use Information

• Steam App IDs are used solely to fetch and generate review summaries
• Analytics data (website only) is used to understand usage patterns and improve the service
• iCloud sync is used solely to keep your saved games and cached summaries consistent across your Apple devices
• We do not sell, share, or transfer personal data to third parties

Data Storage

Generated review summaries are cached to improve performance. No user-specific data is stored. We use Upstash Redis for caching and Supabase for summary storage, both hosted on secure infrastructure.

• Steam Web API (Valve Corporation) — to fetch game reviews and metadata
• OpenAI — to generate AI-powered summaries

Chrome Extension Permissions

The extension requests host permissions for steamsummarize.com to communicate with our API. It runs content scripts only on store.steampowered.com/app/* pages. No other websites are accessed.

iOS/macOS App Data

The app communicates with steamsummarize.com and store.steampowered.com to fetch game data and generate summaries. Saved games and cached summaries are stored on-device using local storage and synced via iCloud Key-Value Store. No data is sent to us beyond the Steam App IDs required to generate summaries. The app does not require a user account or login.
